Problem:

All organizations implement some sort of antivirus, antimalware, or other combination of security scanning tools to help keep their network infrastructure free of malicious and harmful intrusions.

Recommendations may not adhere to corporate or organization policies. If this is the case, a trade-off should be made between security and performance in line with your usual organizational practices.

Most, if not all, security solutions available in today’s marketplace provide detailed logs, quarantine areas and alerts/messaging to inform System Administrators of restrictions that have been implemented automatically by their products. It is important to use all the information available to you determine where security tools are restricting software use and network communication unnecessarily.

Cause(s):

  • Implementing tools that are too aggressive can have a detrimental effect on network and software performance.

Solution(s):

When troubleshooting any security product, it is always advised to uninstall the product completely and carry out benchmark tests on performance and note any improvements to prove the impact of the security solution.

Note: The LYNQ folder under ProgramData and in the users profile path will always be called LYNQ.  The application folder names are set on installation.
